Different Online Lesson Types : Bath, Pool & Dry Lessons

Welcome to watermellow — where swim lessons happen virtually! We specialize in bringing swim education to your home with one-on-one, 20-minute Zoom sessions, ensuring both you and your little one feel confident around water. Our lessons cater to the age group of 3 weeks old to 36 months, and whether you have a bathtub, a pool, or no water at all, we’ve got the right lesson plan for you. Here’s a breakdown of our different offerings:

Bathtub Lessons

Perfect for babies starting as early as 3 weeks old all the way up to 9 months, our Bathtub Lessons focus on building early water confidence in the safety and comfort of your own home. The goal is to familiarize your baby with water, introducing them to the watermellow Submersion Routine, which includes techniques before, during, and after every 3-second float. These lessons help develop your baby’s comfort in water at a young age, fostering a natural connection with aquatic environments.

What You’ll Need:

  • A bathtub large enough to sit in comfortably with your baby.

  • A device (such as a tablet or phone) set up beside the bathtub for Zoom.

Lesson Focus:

  • Water safety fundamentals

  • Gradual water submersion techniques

  • Building comfort and trust with water

We recommend scheduling these lessons every two weeks to allow for practice time in between lessons and a gradual progress that ensures your baby feels comfortable and safe.

Pool Lessons

Our Pool Lessons take your baby’s water skills to the next level, designed for little ones aged 3 weeks to 36 months. By the end of these lessons, you’ll feel confident continuing their swim education independently. You can use any available pool option, making our lessons highly flexible.

Pool Options:

  1. Your Own Pool or Hot Tub: If you have access to a personal pool or hot tub, lessons can be done there! Make sure to read our blog post on hot tub safety for babies if you’re using this option.

  2. Public Pools: No pool at home? No problem! You can conduct lessons at a local public pool during parent-and-tot open swim hours. Just make sure you have the right setup, and if the environment is noisy, we recommend using wireless headphones for better communication with your instructor.

What You’ll Need:

  • A pool or hot tub (or access to a public pool).

  • A device set up beside the pool for Zoom.

    • If you’re unsure how to securely set up your device, consider using a phone mount like this one, to avoid it slipping into the pool or teaching the wet pool floor!

  • Wireless headphones for public pools to hear your instructor clearly.

Lesson Focus:

  • Basic water safety

  • Floating and beginner stroke techniques

  • Preparing for advanced swim instruction as your baby grows

These lessons are recommended on a weekly basis to maintain continuity and build on each previous session. Check out our blog post on about transitioning from bath time to pool time for tips on moving from the tub to the pool.

Dry Lessons

Not ready to bring your little one into the water just yet? Or perhaps you don’t have access to a pool or bathtub that works for lessons? Our Dry Lessons are for you! These sessions provide valuable knowledge on water safety and swim techniques without the need to be near water. Ideal for preparing for beach trips or any upcoming water adventures, these 20-minute calls offer you the opportunity to ask our expert instructors all your questions and receive personalized advice.

What You’ll Need:

  • Just yourself and your device for the Zoom call!

Lesson Focus:

  • Water safety education

  • Preparation for swimming lessons or water outings

  • Personalized Q&A with your instructor

These lessons are a fantastic way to prepare before your baby’s first water experience or a trip to the beach. While there’s no actual swimming during the session, you’ll leave with a clear plan and peace of mind.

We believe that water safety and familiarity should start early, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way—virtually! No matter your setup, our lessons help your baby build essential water skills and confidence in a safe, supportive environment.

Ready to dive in? We recommend booking bathtub lessons every two weeks and pool lessons every week for the best results. For those looking for more information before hitting the water, our dry Lessons are the perfect place to start.

Join us today, and let’s make your little one’s water journey a joyful experience from the comfort of your home!
